Lathan Architects participated in the groundbreaking ceremony today for a new $15.4 million performing arts center at Hoover High School. Representatives from Hoover City Schools, Hoover High School and city officials were present for the event. The new performing arts center is a much anticipated addition to the school. The 36,000 SF facility will be constructed to connect to the new band room at the high school. The new Performing Arts Center will include a 940-seat auditorium that boasts a full theatrical lighting and sound package along with an on-site scene construction workshop.
The current theater will only seat 270 people, which is much smaller than many large schools in Alabama. With a student enrollment of about 2,900 students, their goal was to accommodate a full grade level and the large crowds the programs draw. Lathan Architects is very excited to be part of this new addition for the school and community.
